The German Cognitive Linguistics Association was founded in Hamburg in 2004 during the inaugural conference “Current Trends in Cognitive Linguistics” at the initiative of Klaus-Uwe Panther, Günter Radden, and Mechthild Reh with the objective to promote cognitive-functional linguistics and to provide a national and international platform for current research agendas at its biennial conferences.
